Today marks the end of the second week of retirement, and it’s great. I initially worried I would regret it, but I don’t. Everything about the decision was right, and now I am just trying to figure out what I want to do. Do I miss anything? Not really. I have been spending most of my time doing web stuff, and the only struggle has been deciding what to focus on, whereas before there was always something to add, update, or create based on somebody else’s needs.
As part of my start fresh, I did get a new haircut (basically returning to the first 40 years of my life). I also decided that I really wasn’t interested in being an entrepreneur at this time and closed the business I started at the beginning of 2025, amidst all the talk of mass reduction in forces. I do hope to find a non-profit organization that can use my experience. I did write an article about how much I liked working with the WordPress VIP platform.
What Web Stuff?
In the past two weeks, I have been watching Kevin Geary’s new Page Building 101 series. As a result of an episode, I created a plugin that gives users the ability to add inline semantic elements and a blockquote wrapped in a figure so that they can add a citation with semantic meaning.
I also created a plugin that lets you display Cabin analytics on the dashboard or as a block or shortcode.
Lastly, I have been focused on Etch as it nears the version 1 release. I initially thought I would wait until later this year to focus on it, but so many things have been changing in both Etch and Automatic CSS that are too hard to ignore. As a result, I have completely ditched Avada for any future projects, taken down my personal Avada site, and left the FB community. In the future, I will either use Bricks Builder or Etch, depending on the nature of the request.
Plans for 2026
While nothing is definitive, I do have some plans for the year.
